Multiple stepper motor control with multiple vector spaces

Hi guys,

I have this application I'm developing that involves moving 6 stepper motors in open loop. I have NI7334 card and I want to set enable on my motor drivers with the digital I/O from the NI card.

I want to connect X, Y, Z axes to axis 1 - 3 outputs on the card and also connect two steppers that control angles of the end effector to the axis 2-3 outputs on the card parallel to the Y and Z stepper motors.

My question is will I be able to monitor position of all the stepper motors using two separate vector spaces? Vector space 1 would be assigned to axes 1-3 and vector space 2 would be assigned to axes 2-3. I would only control which stepper motors are currently active using the enable driver from digital i/o from the card.  (stepper motors x,y,z doesnt work when angular steppers do)

Is the above a valid idea? Can you suggest any other solutions for my problem?

I can't check my solution now since I'm currently assembling the computer to work with the card and right now I develop the app on my notebook.

Thanks in advance and ask me if you have any question
